We advise and represent both employers and employees on all aspects of employment law, from contracts of employment through to claims in the Employment Tribunal.  Some of the areas we deal with are:

  • General Support: A great deal of our work involves supporting our clients with internal employment issues, such as disciplinary and grievance procedures and potential dismissal situations.  We can advise on a procedure and assist a client through it or provide a second opinion on the best approach.
  • Contracts and Policies: Properly drafted contracts of employment, service agreements and policies (such as equal opportunities, harassment, computer misuse, flexible working etc.) can facilitate a good working relationship and limit claims.  We can draft, review and advise on contracts, service agreements and policies for you.
  • Employment Claims: We represent both employers and employees in all employment-related matters, such as claims for unfair dismissal, discrimination and breach of contract, in the Employment Tribunal, Employment Appeal Tribunal and the Courts.
  • Compromise Agreements: Employment disputes are often settled by means of a Compromise Agreement.  We regularly prepare Agreements on behalf of employers and provide advice on them to employees.
  • Redundancy and Restructuring: Where an employer is restructuring or making redundancies, taking advice before action is extremely important, as failing to follow the correct procedures can lead to successful claims.  We can advise on a practical and safe route through the redundancy process and assist you at each stage.  We also advise employees who are facing redundancy.
  • Purchasing or Selling a Business: On the sale of a business, the employees of the seller can become the employees of the purchaser.  Before the purchase, there are obligations on both the seller and purchaser to consult and provide information.  Taking advice at an early stage can prevent problems and limit the risk of claims.  We assist the Company and Commercial Department with such employment issues.
